Design
for Death
What is your vision
of textile futures?
A more personal approach where textiles convey the personality of their
user through the use of print.
What is your project
about?
My project is about challenging the design aesthetic of Western funeral
and coffin designs.
What inspires you?
Life.
Why are you doing this project? What
does it mean to you?
I wanted to recycle people. I wanted to capture a person through textiles.
What is ‘future’
about it?
On a design level there is a need for a more personal approach towards
interiors for the dead, but the lack of current information on such
a ‘taboo’ subject means that designers have a hard time
penetrating into such a controlled environment.
Which materials
and technologies have you used?
Wood, silk , polyester, transfer printing, digital print, flocking
and foiling.
