Alessia Giardino

Biography

I studied in Italy, at Università degli Studi di Firenze, department of Fashion Design, Textile Design course. There I had a general prospective of textile design studing different subjects, ranging from history of Art, Textile and Fashion, to the practical, design and mechanical abilities, and I especially went into weaving on different kind of looms, from manual, jacquard and mechanical one. Interested in fashion, modern and contemporay art and design, curious and with a big desire to improve my skills and knolwdge, I really wanted to push the boundaries of traditon, discovering new fields and scenarios for fabric. The last year I had an internship in Italy, in Florence, at Matech Point , innovative centre specialized in new materials and technologies. There I deepened my knowledge of new technological devices and materials, and I had a big research useful for my thesis work. Actually, as I became to be concerned with new technology, materials and concepts applied to fabrics, I decided to plan a Textile collection changing accord human emotions, as final work. Then I decided to perseverate in this fields, as i found great intersted in it, and I decided to apply for MA course, Design for textile future, at Univerity of Arts, Central Saint Martins.
