We are very familiar with visual collecting when we travel.
With the ongoing development of digital cameras we store thousands of visual memories on our home computer.
Although sounds are very important for our memories and navigation we nearly make no effort to explore and store them.
Furthermore we are unable to explore the world of ultrasounds which are applied by bats for their precise navigation.
How important are unhearable sounds while travelling?
Can we translate them into "our own hearable language"?
Intended Outcome
Textiles that
work as microphones (ultrasound and hearable sound): either by embedding microphones or making the textile itself into a microphone
record ultrasounds of the environments which can then be heard e.g. via headphones
