Elena Corchero
Biography
Elena Corchero is an experienced fashion and interaction designer with a fine arts background and specialist knowledge in smart textiles through work on wearable technologies as a research associate in MIT Media Lab Europe Human Connectedness. Her projects can be found at www.lostvalues.com where she challenges the aesthetics and function of smart fabrics to emphasize the emotional value of keepsakes, garments and toys. Elena is very attentive to detail. Enjoy working in multidisciplinar and multicultural teams. She is fluent in Spanish, English and German with working knowledge of French.Final Project: solar Vintage

Concerned about our troubled world, we slowly learn, invent and act. Renewable energies are evolving and just the solar industry itself has grown an astonishing 70% in the last year. Creating fashion accesories that incorporates this techonologies, emphasizing their aesthetic qualities, can start a dialogue about fashion, energy and sustainability highlighting the importance of making these technologies be part of our daily life. I would like to add the dimension of sustainability to the fast growing wearable computing market and at the same time challenge the stereotypically minimal, sporty and masculine look of these devices.Material/ Technology
Use of solar technolgy for fashion accesories that we wear outdoors and use as an ambien light when we arrive home. silk and metal embroideries with antique embellishment techniques turnt into disguised circuitry embeding solar cells, batteryes and LEDs.Images
