What shape should the lamp be?

In order to help soothe people to sleep, my lamp needs to be comfortable to view while lying in a bed. This is the most important consideration. Other things I have been thinking about are a sense of comfort and protection by encircling the user.

I realized my original ordinary circular lampshade isn't easy to look at in bed and can only be seen if lying on one side.

So I came up with a few version of a lamp that curves over the bed so the user can see it from any position as long as they are right way up on the bed. The curve encircles the bed like protective arms, but leaving plenty of space for the user to sit up and get out of bed if they want to.

Another idea is that of a glowing bed-ceiling. It would be like lying in the grass looking up at the sky on a summers night - but the indoor version! However it could only be viewed by lying on your back. I thought of having glowing walls as well but I think it would be too claustrophobic. Even if the walls were fabric curtains. It would block out everything but the bed and the light. Perhaps this would be nice for some, I'd have to look into it. My thoughts are that it would be too much.
