MA Year 1 projects
Epigami - Fabrics of life project
Epigami is our response to the 3 days workshop "Fabrics of life", gathering
7 scientists from the Epigenetic field and 40 designers from MA Textile Futures and MA Industrial Design at Central St Martins.
Team: Carlo Bianchi, Jacqueline Crosthwaite, Melissa French, Amelie Labarthe, Aurelie Mosse, Pu Tai with the support of Neil Brockdorff from MRC Clinical Sciences Centre and Harry White.
Goal: Visualizing and communicating in a simple and pleasant way what Epigenetic is.
Concept: Explaining Epigenetic by drawing a parallel with Origami. The result is Epigami, a communication tool to understand what is Epigenetic, designed for teachers as well as science museums.

The Constellation Wallpaper
The Constellation Wallpaper is a dream of eco-conscious wallpaper for 2030.
The concept
An energy storage wallpaper. It means that the wallpaper produces and stores electricity into his surface thanks to photovoltaic technology.
How does it work ?
The wallpaper is made of two layers of paper. The first layer transforms the sunlight into electricity, whereas the second one works as a battery and stores the electricity produced so far.
Flaps into the wallpaper surface indicate the level of electricity stored. They open up when the wallpaper is accumulating energy and reveal a new poetic aesthetic.
How is it sustainable ?
This wallpaper works with the only renewable energy susceptible to provide all the energy we need at a global level, as the sun provides, every two minutes, to the Earth, all the energy we need annually.
It is not only a self-energy sufficient product that transforms wasted space into an energy’s production place but also support people in becoming producers rather than just consumers. The beauty of the pattern revealed by the stored electricity is a way to reward good energy use and to create a situation where it is socially desirable to show that you are an eco-conscious consumer.
Winner project of the partnership with Philips, looking at the habitat of the future.

The World as a Map
Collection of wallpapers designed for the partnership with Graham and Brown, based on maps' reinterpretation.
It includes 3 ranges of eco-conscious and interactive wallpapers. I would be pleased to turn my designs into production so please feel free to contact me if you want to know more about it.
Innovative Textile Project
Context The purpose of my approach was to explore the boundaries between Textile and Design by exploring the table object.
Concept I've especially focused on the idea of a table only made of textile. It is all about a table only made of an accumulation and superimposing of different look of tablecloths. So you would be able to change of table, every time you change of tablecloth, simply by removing the first sheet of the pile.

These designs are part of the design research based on a evolving pattern, evolving through history and styles.
Techniques: laser-cutting, digital printing, screen-printing
Materials: plastic tablecloths, fabrics, tyvek, veneers, spi ...
