Project Description
SCENARIO ONE
"RIPPLE BAG"
The "Ripple Bag" is a reactive handbag, which changes its appeance when a mobile is ringing/vibrating.
It is my aim to create a bag that response to our everyday essential travel accessory, such as mobile phones.
The bag acts simply as our 'second self'. It would response to the sound generates by the mobile, and creates unique 'RIPPLES'. Whether through a crowded bus journey, or a buzzing street, the bag is still reactive, when we may not realise that someone is calling...

SCENARIO TWO
"SOUVENIRS"
"A journey may end...but the memory lives on..."
"I keep with me, the Souvenirs from each trip..."
Fill up the bag and make it HAPPY! see how it reacts...
Each journey we make, we encounter all the diversities in culture and tradition...
The 'Souvenirs' from each trip will not only remind us of the journeys, it also affects our handbag...
No need for extra plastic bag...the more you keep 'feeding' the bag, the more it changes its appearance...
Intended Outcome
- To produce a collection of woven fabrics for women hand-bags, which intended to enhance a journey of day to day traveling whether in big cities or local destinations
- The collection of fabrics are inspired and directed by SENARIO ONE and SCENARIO TWO. It will focus on combining new smart technology with an ethenic, yet playful appearance

Material & Technology
Shape Memory Alloy (SMA)
A shape memory alloy is a material that has the ability to return to its previous shape after being deformed by applying heat or in some cases just releasing the stress.

Other materials
I am hoping to combine a lightweight, soft, luxurious material such as silk, with something more rustic like organic cotton and linen. However, at the moment I am experimenting with different kinds of weave structures and combining Shape Memory Alloy into the fabrics.
