Philips Project-Our Future Habitat 2050

''Everybody wants the same thing, rich or poor.....not only a warm dry room, but a shelter for the soul''

Samuel Mockbee, Architect

I Survive

I have designed the Ultimate Designer Survival Bag/Habitat for our Future Habitat 2050. My decision was a very personal one based on my ever growing concern about the Environment in which we now live. Rising Sea levels, water shortages, pandemics and climate refugees are the main issues of motivation behind my concept.

If we chose to ignore the warnings of Economist Nicolas Stern's Report and current Governments in 2050 we could be under attack not by terrorists but by the forces of Nature.

Climate Refugees will not only be a problem for developing Countries but as we have recently seen in New Orleans it is a serious and growing problem for some of the richest Countries also.

My Product

The Ultimate Fashion Survival Bag/Habitat aimed at the luxury end of the market.

Who is it for?

The Fashion consciuos inhabitants of London 2050 who now live in a citiy where flooding has become common place and so they have had to adapt to a new more aquatic way of life.

What does it do?

It provides food and shelter for climate Refugees.

How does it work?

The bag is made of lightweight reflective fabric for high visibilty and lined with a flexible buoyancy material. The bag contains a dress that transforms into a tent that takes two seconds to erect.Medical supplies, water purifing tablets and food packages are encapsulated in the fabric.

The Tent Dress fabric is constructed with Photovoltaic thread to produce a garment that provides Solar energy & light for the shelter.Global Positioning sensors are imbedded in the garment
