My sustainable wallpaper design focuses on the cultural sustainability, which is inspired from my special bond with India where I travelled over a period of four years, researching and buying local textiles.

I found visual inspiration from the outdoor and indoor wall decorations of the huts in the west India. The outdoor walls are painted with designs of birds, lotus and natural elements, dedicated to Lakshmi, goddess of abundance and fertility. The indoor walls are covered with white washed patterns of mud and cow dung, embellished with exquisite mirror work. Kohbar in the bedroom - the wall paintings which are drawn by young Mithili ladies. They learn to draw from their mother for their future husbands. The motifs are full of erotic symbolism.

The outdoor walls are often decorated with the gigantic hand painted large Bollywood posters. These beautiful street collages are symbols of the way of Indian life, the strong sense of identity, full of culture, traditions, living experience and a distinctive approach to storytelling.

Like masala chai-historical Indian milk tea which uses small cups full of rich spices, my delicate wallpaper designs will offer with just one sip, all the sensations of India.
