Research Question

Can we use principle of biology as a new methodology to create fashion?

Rationale & Context

This project is happening in “The Wardrobe World” where all the clothes live. Clothes are alive in “The Wardrobe World”, each of them would be able to meet the one piece of clothing it fancy and two of them could get together and have their own babies after the marriage. A new generation of fashion garments would be created based on two pieces of existing clothes. By analyzing and manipulating the genetic character (colours, materials and looks etc.) of the two selected "Parent Clothes", a hybrid "Baby Clothes" would then be created which not only inherit the lineage characteristics but would also have reintroduced new attributes from the mixture of the parents’.

I believe that an evolutionary step forward in the making of clothing could be possible, by using some of the biological achievements such as genetic engineering for clothing.

In almost all technology related designs, it seems like technology limits the extent of aesthetic achievement due to its capacity. However, in fashion, the visual language means everything; aesthetics cannot be overlooked. I believe that technology should develop according to the demands of aesthetics and not the other way round. Hence, this particular project will present the possibilities in communicating the concept through its visual medium.
