Research Question

How can interactive textiles challenge the transformation in one swimming suit?

Rational & Context

Looking at the history of swimming costume. They had changed dramatically in the use of materials and garment shapes. What would new technology take swimming suit design further in the future? By the developing technology, new print pigments have offered another possibility to swimming suit design. I want to create a new look for the future swimming costume which its print pattern would transfer gradually from a geometric print into a decorative pattern under certain conditions; for example according to sunshine, water and temperature. The transformation could be between two styles or more.
